ITINERARY
Day 1: Hanoi – Mai Chau Valley (180km)
Hanoi – Mai Chau Valley
Your motorbike journey through Northern Vietnam begins at Motorbike Tour Expert’s station in western Hanoi. Within just 30 minutes of riding, you will leave the bustling city behind and enter the tranquil countryside, where you will encounter charming rural landscapes, traditional villages, and locals going about their daily lives. Expect to see chickens, ducks, and water buffaloes amidst the lush rice fields.
After a delicious lunch, the ride becomes even more spectacular as you traverse small backroads through rustic villages, surrounded by limestone mountains and sprawling rice paddies. The winding roads along Da River Lake provide breathtaking views, often compared to a mountain version of Ha Long Bay. The ride along the lake is one of the most scenic highlights of this short motorbike tour in Vietnam.
Your journey ends in the peaceful Mai Chau Valley, home to the White Thai ethnic minority. Their traditional stilt houses, set amidst green mountains and rice fields, create a serene and welcoming atmosphere. The Thai people are known for their exceptional hospitality and delicious home-cooked meals, ensuring an unforgettable evening.
Mai Chau Valley
Mai Chau Valley is a rural district in Hoa Binh Province, known for its picturesque landscapes and vibrant ethnic culture. With a population of nearly 56,000 (as of 2009), it is home to both the Muong and Thai ethnic groups. The traditional stilt houses, made from bamboo and timber, are built approximately two meters above the ground to prevent water damage and provide shelter for livestock. Most travelers opt for a homestay experience to fully immerse themselves in the local culture and enjoy the warm hospitality of the Thai people.
Day 2: Mai Chau Valley – Phu Yen (160km)
The journey from Mai Chau to Phu Yen is relatively easy, allowing plenty of time for photo stops and relaxation. The day starts with a leisurely walk around the village or a cup of coffee while enjoying the morning tranquility. After bidding farewell to your Thai hosts, you’ll set off towards Moc Chau, passing through breathtaking mountain scenery.
After lunch near the stunning Hua Tat Pass, the route continues along the lesser-traveled Road 43, which leads to the Da River. You will cross the reservoir at Van Yen by ferry, adding a unique element to the adventure. The ride along the Da River is an absolute delight, with its winding roads and captivating landscapes, making it one of the most enjoyable sections of this motorbike tour.
Upon arrival in Phu Yen, you will settle in for the night.
Dinner and overnight stay in Phu Yen – Hotel.
Day 3: Phu Yen – Hanoi (170km)
After breakfast, the journey continues westward through the scenic Lung Lo Pass, offering an exhilarating ride through sloping, winding roads lined with vibrant green tea fields. The pass provides an excellent opportunity for capturing stunning photographs of the Northern Vietnam landscape.
Lunch is in Son Tay town, a historical district on the outskirts of Hanoi. From there, you will navigate small countryside roads, avoiding heavy traffic as you make your way back to the city. Arriving at your hotel before rush hour, you will conclude this incredible 3-day motorbike tour through Northern Vietnam.
Tour ends at approximately 4:30 PM.
