ITINERARY
Day 1: Hanoi – Mai Chau (170km / ~6 Hours) (L/D)
Hanoi – Mai Chau
Departing from Hanoi, we ride north with Hong Son Lake beside us, soaking in the breathtaking scenery of tiny islands nestled among lush forests and towering limestone peaks—an idyllic, picture-perfect landscape.
Continuing our journey on smooth roads, we pass through charming countryside vistas, making our way to Mai Chau by the afternoon. Upon arrival, you’ll have time to explore the area at your own pace before dinner.
In the evening, enjoy an authentic Thai Dance performance, offering a glimpse into the local culture. We conclude the day by staying overnight in traditional Thai stilt houses, fully immersing ourselves in the tranquil beauty of Mai Chau.
Day 2: Mai Chau – Phu Yen (150km / Approx. 6 Hours) (B/L/D)
After a hearty breakfast at the homestay, we say our goodbyes to the villagers and ride towards Moc Chau, a highland town famous for its premium tea plantations. Here, we pause for lunch and have the opportunity to stock up on some of the region’s finest teas.
The surrounding region is home to various ethnic communities, including the Green H’mong, Dzao, Thai, and Muong people, enriching the cultural diversity of our route.
Post-lunch, we take the less-traveled Road 43, leading to the Da River. Crossing the Da River reservoir via the Van Yen ferry, we navigate through scenic secondary roads before reaching Phu Yen, a tranquil mountain town in Son La Province.

Day 3: Phu Yen – Nghia Lo (160km / Approx. 6 Hours) (B/L/D)
Following breakfast, we set out for Son La, taking the challenging but rewarding Road #6. Though the road conditions can be rough, the journey is well worth it as we traverse stunning landscapes, including a visit to a Black Thai village. Along the way, we take short breaks to enjoy the view, capture photos, and rest.
Our adventure continues as we navigate the Lung Lo Pass, a historically significant 15km-long route that played a crucial role in the First Indochina War. This pass, situated in Yen Bai Province, is now recognized as a national heritage site.
Arriving in Nghia Lo, we check into our hotel, leaving the evening free for personal exploration.

Day 4: Nghia Lo – Mu Cang Chai (130km / Approx. 4 Hours) (B/L/D)
After breakfast, we continue our ride from Nghia Lo to Mu Cang Chai, passing through breathtaking mountain scenery. This route takes us through lush tea plantations and increasingly dramatic landscapes.
A highlight of the journey is crossing Khau Pha Pass, one of Vietnam’s four greatest mountain passes, offering stunning views and numerous stops for photography. We also pass through Tu Le Valley, a beautiful spot at the base of the pass.
Mu Cang Chai is renowned for its rice terraces, recognized as a national heritage site. This region is home to the H’mong ethnic minority, known for their vibrant culture, traditional attire, and unique way of life—making it a paradise for photographers.

Day 5: Mu Cang Chai – Sapa (130km / Approx. 3 Hours) (B/L/D)
We begin our ride from Mu Cang Chai, traveling through the stunning Quy Ho Pass, surrounded by breathtaking cloud-covered mountains. The journey offers scenic views of tea, corn, and rice fields, creating an unforgettable experience.
Arriving in Sapa, one of Vietnam’s most famous highland destinations, we explore the town’s vibrant atmosphere. A must-visit attraction is the Sapa Stone Church, built during the French colonial era—a historic and architectural gem that serves as a stunning photo backdrop.
Sapa is home to various ethnic minority communities, making it a hub of cultural exchange and local trade.

Day 6: Sapa – Thac Ba (230km / Approx. 6 Hours) (B/L/D)
After breakfast at the hotel, we descend from Sapa to Lao Cai City on our motorbikes, stopping by the scenic Nam Thi River, which marks the Vietnam-China border. Enjoy a coffee break while taking in the peaceful view of China.
Continuing on Road 70, we turn onto Road 152, passing through lush palm forests before reaching the Dao ethnic village of Vu Linh, located by Thac Ba Lake—Vietnam’s largest man-made lake.
This stunning artificial lake spans 23,400 hectares, featuring over 1,300 islands and hills covered in pristine ecological surroundings. The crystal-clear waters reflect the ancient forests, and the lake is dotted with caves like Hum, Cau Cuoi, and Bach Xa.
Sapa Motorcycle Tour to Vu Linh – Thac Ba Reservoir
After lunch, we take a relaxing boat ride, explore the area’s unique floating villages, and observe the Dao people’s traditional way of life.

Day 7: Thac Ba – Hanoi (180km / Approx. 5 Hours) (B/L)
After breakfast, we begin our final ride, heading southeast on Highway 2, before detouring through the peaceful town of Phu Tho. Riding alongside the Red River, we witness the point where it merges with the Black River, marking our approach to Hanoi.
As we cross the Black River via a bridge, we pass through Son Tay before re-entering the bustling capital. We aim to return before rush hour (4 PM) to avoid the increasing traffic congestion.
