8:00 AM
Depart from the hotel and enjoy a scenic drive to Hoa Lu, the ancient capital of Vietnam.
10:30 AM
Arrive in Hoa Lu, the former capital of Vietnam. In 968, the local warlord Dinh Bo Linh declared himself King Dinh Tien Hoang, marking the beginning of the Dinh dynasty. Hoa Lu served as the political, economic, and cultural center of Dai Co Viet (the name of Vietnam at the time) for 41 years, from 968 to 1009. The first 12 years were under the Dinh dynasty, and the following 29 years under the Le dynasty, with King Le Dai Hanh. In 1010, King Ly Thai To moved the capital to Thang Long (present-day Hanoi), and Hoa Lu became a former royal citadel. Today, two temples stand on the grounds of the old royal palace: one dedicated to King Dinh Tien Hoang and the other to King Le Dai Hanh. The visit provides an opportunity to learn about Vietnam’s feudal dynasties and rich historical periods.
