ITINERARY
Hanoi – The Red River Delta – Hanoi
Morning: Hanoi to Bich Dong
Depart from your Hanoi hotel between 7:30 am and 7:45 am and travel to Ninh Binh province. Our first stop is the Bich Dong area, a favorite destination for nature lovers and spiritual seekers. Nestled among limestone cliffs and lush greenery, the Bich Dong Pagoda is a serene and historic site with a unique three-tiered structure: the Lower, Middle, and Upper Pagodas.
- Lower Pagoda: At the base of the limestone cliff, this tranquil pagoda is adorned with intricately carved statues and altars dedicated to Buddha and other deities.
- Middle Pagoda: A short climb rewards visitors with sweeping views of the surrounding countryside and centuries-old Buddhist sculptures.
- Upper Pagoda: The highest tier offers breathtaking panoramic views of karst formations, meandering rivers, and the tranquil landscape below, creating an atmosphere of peace and spirituality.
Afternoon: Nang River, Thung Nang Cave, and Trang An
After leaving Bich Dong, enjoy a serene two-hour rowing boat ride along the peaceful Nang River. Surrounded by lush greenery and majestic limestone cliffs, the journey winds through the enchanting Thung Nang cave system, where stalactites create mesmerizing natural formations.
Next, we take a scenic bicycle ride through the Trang An Landscape Complex, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This area is famous for its emerald waters, rugged limestone karsts, and hidden caves. The ride offers an immersive experience, weaving through serene waterways, tranquil villages, verdant rice paddies, and enchanting historical sites. It’s a wonderful opportunity to connect with the rhythms of rural life and enjoy the natural splendor of the delta.
Hoa Lu: Vietnam’s Ancient Capital
In the late afternoon, we visit Hoa Lu, the ancient capital of Vietnam during the Dinh and early Le dynasties (10th–11th centuries). Here, we explore the remnants of royal palaces, temples, and citadels that reflect the grandeur of Vietnam’s early history.
- Dinh Tien Hoang Temple: Dedicated to the first emperor of the Dinh Dynasty, this temple showcases intricate architecture and ornate decorations from the era.
- Le Dai Hanh Temple: Honoring the founder of the early Le Dynasty, this temple offers insight into the cultural and religious practices of the time.
Strolling through the surrounding villages and along the serene banks of the Sao Khe River, we soak in the natural beauty of this historic region before beginning our return journey to Hanoi.
Evening: Return to Hanoi
We arrive back in Hanoi around 6:00 pm, concluding a day filled with stunning scenery, cultural discovery, and unforgettable experiences. (Lunch is included.)
This one-day tour is the perfect escape for those seeking to experience the natural wonders and historical richness of the Red River Delta.
