Located in Tien Giang Province, the Dong Thap Muoi Nature Reserve is a hidden ecological gem, offering visitors lush landscapes and a rich diversity of flora and fauna.
The Enchanting Scenery of Dong Thap Muoi Nature Reserve

Situated in Tan Phuoc District, Tien Giang, this 107-hectare nature reserve was established in 2000 to protect the unique wetlands ecosystem, preserve endangered species, and maintain valuable genetic resources. In recent years, the reserve has been opened to visitors, quickly becoming a popular eco-tourism destination.
The buffer zone surrounding the reserve is mainly composed of vast melaleuca forests, home to a wide variety of wildlife. The reserve boasts approximately 156 plant species, 147 bird species, 34 fish species, 8 amphibian species, and 30 insect species. The bird population alone numbers in the tens of thousands. Among them, rare birds such as the painted stork (Mycteria leucocephala), listed in Vietnam’s Red Book, have found a sanctuary here to nest and breed.
Exciting Activities and Wildlife Encounters

In addition to its bird population, the reserve is home to numerous endangered species, including the jungle cat (Felis chaus), the elongated tortoise (Indotestudo elongata), and the greater adjutant stork (Leptoptilos dubius). Other notable wildlife includes pythons, long-tailed macaques, wild boars, porcupines, and monitor lizards. The best times to visit for birdwatching are early in the morning (7:00–9:00 AM) when birds leave their nests to forage, and late afternoon (5:00–7:00 PM) when they return in flocks.
Visitors can enjoy various outdoor activities such as paddling through pristine waterways, stand-up paddleboarding (SUP), or cycling along forest trails.

No trip to the Dong Thap Muoi Nature Reserve is complete without experiencing its authentic countryside cuisine. Visitors can indulge in local delicacies like grilled snakehead fish, water lily sour soup, grilled field rats, and steamed apple snails.
