ITINERARY
Day 1: Hanoi – Nghia Lo (L/D)
Hanoi – Nghia Lo
Your journey begins as you depart from Hanoi’s Old Quarter and drive for about 2 hours to Duong Lam, an ancient village that has been recognized by UNESCO since 2006 as a cultural and historical site in need of preservation. The village is home to houses that are 100 to 400 years old, surrounded by temples and gardens dedicated to two kings who famously repelled a Chinese invasion around 1200 years ago. Spend 2-4 hours exploring this historic village and taking in the local sights before enjoying lunch at a nearby restaurant.
After lunch, continue your journey through the scenic countryside, where the flat landscapes of rice paddies gradually give way to towering karst formations, interspersed with tea and maize plantations as you ascend. Finally, you’ll arrive in Nghia Lo, where you’ll spend the night in a traditional White Thai homestay, built on stilts, offering an authentic local experience.

Day 2: Nghia Lo – Mu Cang Chai (B/L/D)
Start the day early with a peaceful bicycle ride through the rice paddies, enjoying the serene morning atmosphere. The local villagers begin their day at dawn, working quietly in the fields alongside ducks, chickens, pigs, and buffalo.
Afterward, enjoy a delicious breakfast outdoors with a scenic view of the fields before checking out and continuing your journey over the dramatic Khau Pha Mountain Pass. Along the way, you’ll be amazed by the breathtaking rice terraces of Tu Le.
Following lunch at a local restaurant, you’ll head to Nam Co Village, home to the Flower H’mong ethnic group, known for their vibrant traditional clothing. If your visit coincides with market day, you’ll also have the chance to explore the lively local market.
The day will conclude with a drive to La Pan Tan Village and Mam Xoi Rice Field, where you’ll enjoy a short, 3km walk uphill, rewarded with stunning views of the surrounding rice fields. After descending, you’ll head to local village for an overnight stay.
A ~6-8km trek

Day 3: Full Day Trekking Mu Cang Chai Terraced Fields (B/L/D)
Start your day with breakfast served outdoors, offering a beautiful view of the surrounding fields before heading to the trekking point. Our journey will begin on the “dragon spine” trail, trekking from Kim Noi to Che Cu Nha, a 15 km route that takes us off the beaten path, offering an excellent opportunity to admire the breathtaking beauty of Mu Cang Chai’s famous rice terraces. Along the way, we’ll visit a few villages of the Hmong hill tribes scattered throughout the region, giving you insight into their traditional way of life.
A picnic lunch will be served amidst the stunning terraced fields, allowing you to fully enjoy the landscape. Afterward, your driver will pick you up for the return journey to the Ecolodge, where you’ll spend the night.
A ~12-15 km trek

Day 4: Mu Cang Chai – Hanoi (B/L)
After breakfast at the ecolodge, you’ll have the morning to relax and enjoy the stunning scenery of the valley or spend some time with the local family at the homestay. Following lunch, we’ll begin our drive back to Hanoi, where we’ll say our farewells.
